If the descaling light on your De'Longhi Magnificat stays on, it's possible that the descaling process wasn't completed properly. You may have skipped a step or you may have performed it incorrectly. For example, it's possible that you added too little water to the water tank during the descaling process.
In order to properly complete the descaling process of your De'Longhi Magnifica, you have to go through the steps below. Once you've completed these steps, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee again.
Fill the water tank up to level B
Fill the water tank with tap water up to level B.
- Step 1:Switch on the coffee machine by pressing the on button.
- Step 2: Remove the filter from the water tank (if present).
- Step 3: Fill the water tank with tap water, up to level B. This is indicated with a 'B' on the water tank. Put the water tank back in the machine.

Switch on the descaling

- Step 4: Press the descaling button for 5 seconds until the descaling light stops flashing. The light is now on without blinking. This means that the coffee machine is in the descaling mode.
- Step 5: Place a large jug or container under the steam pipe and under the coffee spout (from which the coffee normally flows).

Activate rinsing
Descaling De'Longhi Magnifica
- Step 6: Open the steam knob all the way. You do this by turning the knob towards the "I" in one smooth motion. Water now flows from the machine. The coffee machine stops automatically when the water tank is completely empty. This takes around 30 minutes, including short intervals.
- Step 7: Because the water tank slowly empties itself, the water tank light turns on. You don't have to do anything with this.
- Step 8: Fully close the steam knob again. You can do this by turning the knob towards the "O" in one smooth motion.

Fill the water tank up to 'MAX'
Rinsing De'Longhi Magnifica
- Step 9: Fill the water tank with water again, but this time up to the "MAX" line. This is indicated at the top of the water tank. Put the water tank back in the machine.
- Step 10: Open the steam knob all the way. You do this by turning the knob towards the "I" in one smooth motion.
- Step 11: The water starts flowing again, this time without stops. The coffee machine stops automatically when the water tank is empty. After this, close the steam knob completely. You do this by turning the knob back to the "0".

Repeat steps 9 through 11 once more and you're done
Descal the De'Longhi
- Step 12: Repeat steps 9 to 11, exactly as described above. This way you, rinse the machine with water for the last time.
- Step 13: The descaling light will now turn off, and the light of the water tank will turn on.
- Step 14: Fill the water tank with water and replace the water filter if necessary. You can now make coffee again!
